Entrepreneur Mag’s writer Cris Brogan has just released a new book called Google+ for Business where he shares tons of tips for this new tool – He also shares 4 ways to use it for monetizing.
First – get your Google+ account set up here. Be sure that your ‘About’ page is explains the services you offer and the people you work with (be clear and not too long winded!). Also:
- Don’t forget to list your email address and other was customers can contact you.
- Don’t just list the URL to your home page. List URLs to other featured pages too so customers can drop right into the spot they’re most interested in. (you’re using keyword-rich titles for your URLs, aren’t you?)
- Spend some time connecting with potential prospects and peers…Comment on other’s posts. Be active – and relevant, not spammy or disrespectful.
- Create 3 or 4 posts a day – not sales pitches or advertisements – add value.
Here are 4 ways to use Google+ to add revenue to your bottom line:
- Online trainings, workshops, tutorials or consultations. Google Hangouts provides a free, ready-made online classroom or meeting room. You can schedule up to 10 people in a group.
- Share videos. Post short videos of you sharing your brilliance or ask clients to send short testimonial video clips. How about a short presentation of a recent project? Be creative.
- Make it easy to find. Click the ‘public’ option when you post something so Google will index your post. Don’t go overboard and get spammy or it will work against you. Remember it’s about connection NOT broadcasting in-your-face sales.
- Show off your expertise. Search for your target client. Are they asking questions that you can answer? Give simple answers and invite them to connect with you for more in-depth help. Do NOT do hard sales! It’s a turn off.
These are just a few starter tips. See how many ways you can find to use Google+ to help expand your visibility and grow your business.

Hi Barbara,
These are good short tips that are pretty easy to implement. But one question that’s been on my mind is how to integrate it into your other social media venues like Twitter and LinkedIn. I tend not to tweet every LinkedIn post or vice versa. So Google+ adds yet another thing to think about using in a meaningful way.
Just wondering if you have a strategy like blanketing every venue with the same stuff. That would be the easiest!
